Some people take budgeting a little too far. I clip coupons occasionally, and am not scared to be thrifty so I can save up money, but there are actual limits! My best buddy Betty calls herself an extreme saver, but to me she is just nuts. Don’t get me wrong I adore her to death, however I do not understand a lot of her choices in life. Why would someone endure extreme discomfort regularly to save a few dollars? To me that is what money is for, to spend on things that make your life a lot more enjoyable! Sure I could save a sizable amount of money every single month if I stopped using air conditioning altogether, but why would I do that? I could be entirely miserable with a few more bucks in the bank, or use those bucks to run the air conditioning equipment and appreciate myself a whole lot more. Betty will only run her central a/c equipment for a single hour per afternoon, that is all she allows herself! She says that a single hour of cooling is enough to take the edge off, and cool her room down enough to get some needed sleep. Overnight her current property starts heating up all over again, and she is damp with sweat when she wakes up. She pretty much always says it works for her. Of course she also doesn’t run the AC equipment in her car, so anytime the two of us go someplace I insist on driving every single time. When the summers get especially hot, I notice that Betty starts fishing for invites, to come over and hang out with my air conditioning equipment.
