My mom and Dad asked me what I wanted for Christmas and they thought I was being silly when I told them that I wanted a new furnace for the house.

I told my Dad that the furnace didn’t seem to be heating the house very well, especially when the temperatures were below freezing.

My dad offered to come look at the furnace, but he couldn’t figure out the problem. My parents called me Monday morning and my Dad said that they were going to schedule an appointment for me to have a tune-up performed on the furnace. On Tuesday, my Dad met the HVAC company so I didn’t have to miss a day of work. The HVAC company told my Dad that it looked like I needed a new heating machine. My Dad decided to shell out $4500 so the furnace could be installed while I was still at work. When I got home, the guys were just finishing with the installation. My Dad said surprise when I walked through the door and discovered two service technicians in the kitchen. They were installing a new thermostat to go with the furnace. My Dad and my Mom told me not to worry about the furnace. I can repay the money as a loan or consider it a Christmas gift. Since it is an extremely large purchase, I think I could feel more like an adult if I pay them back a little each month. It’s still nice that my Dad took care of everything so I wouldn’t have to spend one more minute worrying about heat.
