Heating and A/C heating has changed but it’s still cozy
The condo I grew up in legitimately didn’t have anything that most people would consider an Heating and A/C system.
There was this behemoth of a boiler in the basement for heat.
I mean that thing was the size of a small tank. It actually scared the pants off of me and I wouldn’t even get near it. However, the radiant heat that it produced was certainly the most comfortable and cozy heat I have ever experienced. Walking into our condo on a cold Winter time day was such a good feeling. It was prefer a hot blanket being wrapped around you just having that radiant heat. The heat was everywhere thanks to the radiators in every room of the house. There legitimately is something about not having heated air blown through the house. However, an oil fired boiler plan is a dinosaur when it comes to heating a house. I’m sure there are homes where it still exists. But I sure wouldn’t want to be paying the heating bills. I can’t even imagine how much that heating method would cost today. My condo has a current Heating and A/C system. We use a furnace as our heating method. While it isn’t quite the same sort of luxuriant heat that radiant heat is, my house is warm. And, I can afford to pay the heating bills each week. Of course, both of us do our part to keep the utility costs to a minimum. That was not something that my parents did. I can even remember when the heat was a bit too much on a cold day, both of us simply opened a window. Can you imagine that? I would have a stroke if one of my youngsters opened a window in the middle of the winter. All I would be able to see is dollar signs going out the window.
