This home is a labor of love

In hindsight, I could have built a whole new home in less time, and for less money, then what this old home cost me.

But this 1 has affectionate value, right? This is the same home where my Grandpa took me to learn to fish, and to swim.

When I was a teenager I snuck the keys for this site, and brought my girlfriend here for our “first time.” This home is steeped in the great memories of my life, so fixing it up, making it great, was a labor of love. The first thing I needed was a laboring cooling system, something the site had never before seen. When it was first built things enjoy Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C systems were never used in lakeside cabins, you had to use air vents and wind for natural ventilation to cool you down. My generation is far too soft to rely on air vents, or anything as primitive as nature, so that was the first thing I did. I set up a small cooling system in the master kitchen, 1 of the old box type models that you mount in a window. It was not nearly massive enough for cooling down the whole house, but I had 1 room that was the perfect temperature and at first that was good enough. After I got the site insulated, and the windows and doors sealed, then I brought in a bigger A/C component so I could cool down the whole cabin. There is a wood burning stove, so heating the home in the Winter time is a snap.
