Heat as well as humidity down south are a problem

Moving down south took some adjustment for our hubby as well as I, but we’d spent most of our lives living in the far north. We were accustomed to sub zero rapidly increasing temperatures, tons of snow as well as dangerous wind chill. Our home was equipped with a furnace as well as a humidifier, as well as the people I was with and I relied on these multiple systems for the majority of the year. We agonized over the cost of heating as well as spent a lot of time shoveling as well as plowing snow. Our closets were full of heavy jackets, wool coats, durable boots as well as knitted hats. We made sure the snow shovel, ice scraper as well as rock salt were handy. The severe Winter time was the main reason the people I was with and I sold our home as well as purchased a new place down south. Our goal was to never need a gas furnace again. We chose an section where the temperature never falls below fifty degrees; My hubby as well as I were excited to care about sunny afternoons as well as balmy rapidly increasing temperatures. We didn’t realize that intense heat as well as humidity are equally as challenging as severe cold, but for at least half the year, the people I was with and I hide inside the air conditioned house. We whine about the cost of electricity due to running the cooling system at maximum capacity, however in an effort to decrease our energy bills as well as improve comfort, the people I was with and I invested in a whole-house dehumidifier. The dehumidifier pulls excess moisture out of the air, making it feel cooler. It helps to combat concerns with mold as well as mildew grow as well as condensation. We are now considering another move. We’d love to be just a bit further north where the weather would actually allow us to spend time outdoors as well as not drain our budget on temperature control.
