I was actually raised by my mother who was a single parent. I never knew what happened to my father, but he was never there for us. We always made it work though and she worked really hard to keep food on the table and keep the HVAC working good. It amazed me that she didn’t mind when I would adjust the temperature control settings to feel comfortable in the house growing up. Eventually, I even started working so that I could contribute to paying the energy bills and I could help with the grocery shopping. I always looked forward to our holiday seasons. We would have a feast during Thanksgiving and we would have other friends and family over to enjoy the good food. I always will remember the wonderful scents of my mother’s cooking, especially the Thanksgiving turkey! When we would get into the Christmas season, it was always wonderful as well as we would have scented candles, Christmas music, and my mother would always have the fire going in the fireplace. Eventually my mother died when I was in college, and that was a devastating time in my life. I didn’t want to do much of anything, but I did finish my schooling so I could work. I ended up getting a lonely apartment and I didn’t even date because I was depressed. Eventually, I called for some HVAC system maintenance in my place, and the HVAC worker was this nice young lady who was very attractive. I don’t know why, but I actually asked her out on a date, and we hit it off! Now she is my wife, and she reminds me so much of my mother with her great cooking and holiday traditions. We also have a house now together with a fireplace and it reminds me of memories spent in the past with my mom.
