I tend to be less mechanically inclined then most of my friends and neighbors. It’s not as though I can’t change a lightbulb or anything like that. I just don’t do great with appliances and stuff like that. My buddies seem to have no fear to just rip into the washing machine to affect repairs. I’m in a bit of awe when it comes to that sort of thing. I have one neighbor who gives me a really hard time when it comes to how I treat our HVAC unit. About 3 years ago, we replaced the HVAC unit in our home. The old HVAC had done a great job but was only about half new when we purchased the house. So, my wife and I spent a good chunk of time and energy researching just what sort of HVAC replacement we wanted. We took our time and consulted with a certified HVAC contractor as well. The result was the best HVAC I have ever encountered in my life. It was definitely an investment but well worth it. Of course, we get the HVAC maintained seasonally and this is part of what my neighbor needles me about. He’s always telling me that I am overcomplicating what is a simple machine. I could not disagree more but, he goes to great lengths to prove his points. To show me how simple a machine the HVAC unit is, he decided to do his own repair on his HVAC unit. I was happy to stand, be neighborly and hold the flash light as he went about this. But, in the end, he nearly ruined the HVAC. Just goes to show, let the HVAC professionals take care of those repairs.
