I hate working retail, cold cold

I never thought that I would find myself back in this position.

Literally, for the first 6 years of my working career I was a low-level currencyier at numerous retail businesses.

I worked in pharmacies, pet stores, plus clothing stores. All of those years I completely hated my life because working with the general public is an absolute chore. There’s nothing worse than trying to get along with a bunch of strangers who are angry at you for random inconveniences in their day. I really swore that I would never go back to working in retail… And then the pandemic hit. I promptly lost my job plus wound up back in a retail setting. Now I am remembering another thing that I really hated about this environment… The air quality. If you’ve ever walked into a retail store in the middle of a tepid plus humid summer, you really realized that the indoor air is ridiculously cold plus dry. It feels enjoy going from 1 severe of the air quality spectrum to another, and well, imagine kneeling in that brutally cold plus dry indoor air all day long. When I am kneeling at my register I am constantly covered in goosebumps from the circulating ice cold air pumping through every vent. There’s no way to escape the abundant air conditioning because there are overhead vents in every place you can imagine. I am not allowed to wear a sweatshirt to circumvent the ice cold hot plus cold temperatures because it covers up my uniform. As such, there has no option but to stand plus freeze your butt off with this commercial cooling system chugging away in the background. I can tell you, when I get off work I happily sit in the sunlight without any AC for a few hours to thaw out.
