COVID makes great excuse for short visits

Whenever this global pandemic started, I feel like everybody was expecting the worst.

Being locked indoors by ourselves sounded like the worst set of circumstances on earth.

A lot of people were incredibly stressed out staying indoors and staying away from their friends and family for so long. Not me. I have to say, I have found this entire covid-19 ordeal to be extremely freeing. As someone who suffers from social anxiety, and anxiety in general, I’m happy to stay indoors and keep to myself. In fact, I would say that COVID did me a huge favor because to this day it is a great excuse to keep social interactions short. Even when my family wants to hang out, we have to do it outdoors. The outdoor air quality isn’t exactly cooperating with these social conditions. Every time we try to sit on the patio six feet apart, the heat and humidity quickly gets old. There is no way to cool ourselves down efficiently outdoors. Even when we utilize box fans and cold wet towels, the oppressive summer heat quickly breaks up our social interaction. It’s hard to concentrate on your negative family when everybody is dripping sweat and struggling to breathe because of the muggy air quality. The season has been miserable enough so far that AC is absolutely necessary. And thank God for this HVAC respite. Now, I don’t have to make an awkward exit to get away from my complaining family tree, because the climate quickly drives us back to our air-conditioned palaces. Retreating indoors to sit in the comfortable air conditioning system is a great excuse to end every painful visit.
