I just can’t figure out why my thermostat isn’t working.

I wanted a new thermostat, but I didn’t just want any thermostat.

I have been using an old thermostat for a long time, and the thermostat was so inconvenient to use. Every time that I walk in the hardware store and see the smart thermostats, I have wanted one so badly. However, I know that smart thermostats are very expensive, so I could never afford it. However, I began saving money so that I would be able to buy the new thermostat. Finally, the day came, and I bought the thermostat. I brought the thermostat home, and I tried to install it. I have installed a few thermostats before, and I figured that I would be able to install this thermostat. They even had an app that came with a thermostat that was supposed to help me install the thermostat, so I figured that I couldn’t go wrong. However, no matter how hard I tried, I wasn’t able to get the thermostat installed. The thermostat turned on, but it wouldn’t turn the HVAC units on. I worked on that thermostat for hours trying to get it to work. Eventually, I had to reinstall the old thermostat just to be able to use my air conditioner that night. I tried again the next day, and I had to give up after a while. Now, I have to call an HVAC technician to install my thermostat because I cannot figure it out. I have no idea what is wrong with it, but I am assuming that I am missing something absolutely vital that I cannot figure out.
