Those dreadfully hot summer nights
Those dreadfully hot summer nights
The time has come.
I’m dreading the next five months of the year.
I knew the beautiful weather we’ve been having recently was too good to be true. I’ve grown accustomed to the unusualness of this; not the pandemic, talking about the pandemic, but this weather that’s a stark contrast to the horrific heat and humidity that will be settling into our region until winter arrives. We knew summer was headed our way, but I wasn’t ready for the near 90 degree temperatures. I’m in a new house, and now I am freaking out about the quality of the central cooling system over the summer. I don’t know how well the central heating and cooling system is to fight these relentless outdoor elements. I’ve been able to live blissfully ignorant these past few weeks. The first taste of summer heat arrived earlier this week, and I’m not impressed with how the central cooling system handled the increased demand on the first day. My biggest problem is trying to sleep at night. I grew up in the Northeast, far from the heat and humidity that plagues this region. Every evening there, the temperature dropped so you’d need blankets to stay warm. So, I cannot sleep without a cold environment, and if I can’t get central air all night, I might as well pack up and leave now.
