I found my career after school

I feel bad for the people who exist in this world without a meaningful career.

It’s especially bad when you’re working a dead-end job day after day when you know you should be doing something else.

I think everyone deserves to be a respected expert at something, because it leaves a sense of fulfillment and long-lasting happiness. I was unquestionably lucky when I landed my ideal job right out of school. My entire childhood, my family preached the importance of trade school; of studying to work with your hands. I took their advice and enrolled in heating and air conditioning school as soon as I left private school. Within 18 months, I was professionally certified in heating, cooling and ventilation, and had landed a job at the largest air quality control business in town. From that point, I never doubted myself again. I had an inherent knack at diagnosing and repairing indoor air conditioners, whether they were the small residential models or enormous commercial heating and cooling systems. I was good at finding the tiniest mechanical issues and resolving them before major damage occurred. My boss and co-workers at our repair shop were so impressed that they began calling me the “HVAC Whisperer”. They sent me on the hardest repair jobs. I never returned without victoriously fixing the mysterious problem. For the past 30 years, I have had one amazing purpose, fixing people’s critically important air quality control equipment.
