There is nothing worse than waking up on a frosty afternoon and freezing even though you have several blankets on you.

• That is what happened to myself and others last week.

I had set the temperature control to seventy because of how freezing it was supposed to be. I heard the weatherman saying that it was supposed to go below zero. I wanted to be prepared for the cold. The oil furnace had been cleaned and worked on only a month ago, and the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C tech told myself and others that the oil furnace was in great condition. I got out of bed and checked the temperature control, which was dark. I thought I had the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional put current batteries into the temperature control. Then I realized the lights weren’t on. That’s when I knew I didn’t have any power. I was ready to kick myself when I realized that both of us didn’t have power, which meant no heating idea either. I had talked to our Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional just several months ago, about a generator. He told myself and others that if I didn’t get a generator; I was going to end up losing our power at a bad time. The house was in a secure part of the country and almost everyone here lost their power at times. He said the previous owner had a generator because he often lost his power for days. I could only hope our power would come back sooner than later. I was going to call the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C corporation and have that generator installed so I never had to spend another frosty afternoon in our home. I didn’t realize how freezing it could get when you didn’t have the oil furnace running.
