I had just bought an older house and the first thing I wanted to do was to install a new heating system.

Luckily, we lived in an area where there wasn’t much need for air conditioning.

I figured if I was able to get a new furnace, I could always install a window AC unit if it was needed. I called the HVAC company and I wanted some input on what kind of furnace I should be purchasing. They asked me what my requirements were and they wanted to know if I had any special needs. All I knew was that I needed a new furnace and I had no idea what else I could do. I started thinking about what I wanted out of a new furnace. I knew that I needed it to be very efficient in both energy and fuel consumption. I also wanted a furnace that would be able to heat my small house without it running all of the time. I was concerned about getting the wrong size as the HVAC technician told me. We talked for awhile about the furnace and then he told me that he knew what I needed but not what I wanted. He wanted to know if I wanted an oil, gas, or electric furnace. Did I want to have a boiler that heated with hot water, or did I want a ductless HVAC system. We talked for quite some time and I really liked the idea of ductless HVAC. I wouldn’t need to worry about window AC units and I wouldn’t have dirty ductwork to be concerned with.
