Gas shut off means no heat

Gas shut off means no heat

This is my first Wintertide living on the west coast plus I did not expect it to be so cold, I thought this area of the country was always moderate plus sunny year round… That’s what it shows on tv, anyway. This house has a nice wall oil furnace that worked well. However, when the earthquake hit, it stopped working all together, however as if the earthquake wasn’t frightening enough, then we had to deal with the lack of heat. I assume that the town had turned off the gas to the entire city. After all, you do not want fires to start. I was easily suffering without a oil furnace or overheated water but I could make do without the stove for a few afternoons. The microwave still worked just fine. I went out plus got a little space oil furnace to make the house a little bit more comfortable, however but I would make sure to turn it off before leaving just in case another earthquake hit. I do not want to catch the whole block on fire. I was complaining about all this to a single of my neighbors, when she told myself and others that each house has its own gas shut off switch. After an earthquake, you simply have to go turn it back on yourself, however she then went ahead plus showed myself and others how to turn the gas to my house back on, my stove overheated water oil furnace and, most crucially, my wall oil furnace all started working once again. Then, wouldn’t you suppose it, we got another small earthquake just a few afternoons later. After the ground stopped shaking, I went outside plus turned my gas back on. I am becoming a pro at this.
