No more lugging the portable units around
No more lugging the portable units around
Each spring my husband grumbles about the fact that he needs to take our portable HVAC units to the dealer to be serviced.
- This is because they do not offer home service appointments for them.
He has to haul them out of the garage where they are stored, load them in the truck, drop them off, and then three or four days later do the opposite. We have a total of six units and it can be a back breaking task for sure. When he complains I gently remind him that it was his choice to purchase them instead of having a whole house air conditioner put in. he insisted that it was cheaper to put window units in each bedroom, one in the living room and one in the den. When you factor in the cost of each unit, the fee for service, and the amount of effort it takes each year I strongly disagree. Additionally, we can not use the windows during the summer season because the units take up the space. If we had installed the other system we would not have any of these issues. Once, he made the mistake of telling me that I should help him load the cumbersome units into the truck, he won’t do that again. He is well aware of my response as I tell him that he should just sell them and put the money towards the air conditioner I wanted in the first place. Eventually I think that he will come to this realization himself but until then I will continue to watch him struggle with them all on his own.
