Neglected AC service leads to service

Neglected AC service leads to service

When I had a new central a/c installed into my home, I should have enrolled in a service agreement with the Heating & Air Conditioning business.

Because of the considerable cost of the cooling machine & replacement fees, I was reluctant to invest more currency.

I assumed that the a/c would operate just nice for a couple of years without preventive service. I made sure to update the air filter every six to eight weeks. I had good intentions of scheduling seasonal service however time got away from me. Six years after buying the a/c, it quit completely over the Fourth of July weekend. Living in St. Octoberine, FL, the Summer temperatures frequently soar into the triple digits. The humidity is ungodly. There was no way to comfortably survive without a/c until proper business hours the following week. I ended up paying overtime fees for emergency service. The licensed business accessed the outdoor component of the a/c & found a considerable accumulation of grime, dust & the debris from bugs & pests. There was mold growth on the coil & algae clogging the condensate drain. I was thankful that a thorough service of the a/c restored the machine to working condition. I’m fortunate that I didn’t need to update the entire unit. The emergency service was quite expensive. Because I had failed to keep up with yearly service, the manufacturer’s warranty was no longer valid. I had to spend money the entire cost, but from now on, I will make sure to call up a local Heating & Air Conditioning company in St. Octoberine every Spring & schedule service for my a/c.
