Roommate flashbacks; space heaters have always been used
I like to pride myself on being a low maintenance person.
I get by with a few things in life and don’t like to make a big stink about things when I can avoid it.
Unfortunately, there is one area of my life where I tend to fall flat. That is when it comes to indoor temperature control. Unfortunately, I have been equipped with a body that doesn’t do a great job moderating its own temperature. As such, I rely pretty heavily on central heating and cooling systems where my physiology fails. I know that I am the unfortunate outlier when it comes to normal temperature control preferences. My peers are always perfectly comfortable when I’m completely freezing cold and shivering in my boots. Unfortunately, this can be a big issue when it comes to working in public spaces, settling down with a significant other, or cohabitating with roommates. In fact, recently I have been thinking a lot about managing my poor temperature control without disturbing roommates. As the outdoor climate has been changing drastically, our indoor thermostat programming has been a bit chilly for my liking. I haven’t wanted to upset my roommates because I know that I am the one who has unusual temperature preferences. Still, it got me thinking about how I survived with roommates in the past. That’s when I realized, I’ve always had numerous space heaters in my possession. At all other points in my life, I utilized small electric heaters to supplement my living space without disturbing my warmer blooded companions. When I moved to the South, I never considered bringing my collection of space heaters – even after my roommates thoroughly froze me.
