Why you shouldn't wrap your cooling system during the winter
Each Springtime our company is undoubtedly busy.
My pal and I handle at least 10 appointments a day plus each one takes over an hour.
My pal and I are a smaller Heating plus A/C dealership so we only have four professionals on staff plus they are constantly out on service or trouble calls. One call that we get each Springtime confuses me because we keep reminding our customers that they are harming their Heating plus A/C component by wrapping it in plastic. For some reason multiple homeowners have decided that they need to completely wrap their exterior air conditioner component during the winter season to keep the snow out. Would you recommend making a cover of sorts however it should be made out of wood or something that can breathe because the heat pump within the exterior component operates all year long. By wrapping the exterior component you cause moisture to build up within it plus it causes disfigurement that must be repaired costing homeowners money in the long run. To avoid heavy snow buildup on top of the exterior component you can simply make a wooden box that leaves plenty of room around it to breathe however doesn’t allow the snow to sit directly on top of it. I have even seen covers that are solid on the top however that use lattice sides so that air can circulate freely around the unit. This type of design keeps debris such as leaves plus sticks that may fall from trees off of being component as well. Each time that we arrive at a condo plus see a plastic tarp tied tightly around the exterior air conditioner component we just cringe because we know when we take it off it’s going to be a mess.
