Leila wanted to live in a lake household just like the one she grew up in. So, she saved her money and spent time researching the best areas to purchase a lake house. When she found this unique house, it was in an excellent area, and had good bones. But, it would need so much improvement to turn it into her dream home. Instead of going in blindly, Leila asked her dad, who is a general supplier, for help. He flew in at the first chance he could, and spent hours inspecting the house. At the end of the afternoon, he agreed it needed work, however it was perfect as Leila’s first home. First, she had to find a better heating and cooling system for the house. The previous owner had a window A/C device to use while in the hot Summer mornings. And he’d light a wood stove to keep sizzling while in winter. Leila would keep the wood stove for emergency use, although she wanted a up-to-date heating and cooling system in site. She found a local HVAC contractor and they came out to do an assessment. Their suggestion was to install a heat pump for summer, and a gas furnace to heat the lake household while in winter. Leila also opted to get a HEPA filter instead of an moderate one to improve her indoor air quality.
