Leila wanted to live in a lake house just like the one she grew up in. So, she saved her money and spent time researching the best areas to purchase a lake house. When she found this unique house, it was in an excellent area, and had fantastic bones. But, it would need so much improvement to turn it into her dream home. Instead of going in blindly, Leila asked her dad, who is a general contractor, for help. She flew in at the first chance she could, and spent hours inspecting the house. At the end of the day, she agreed it needed work, but it was perfect as Leila’s first home. First, she had to find a better heating and cooling system for the house. The previous owner had a window AC component to use while in the moderate summer time days. And he’d light a wood stove to keep moderate while in winter. Leila would keep the wood stove for emergency use, although she wanted a new heating and cooling system in venue. She found a local Heating and Air Conditioning supplier and they came out to do an assessment. Their suggestion was to install a heat pump for summer, and a gas furnace to heat the lake house while in winter. Leila also opted to get a HEPA filter instead of an modest one to improve her indoor air quality.
