I remember a time when my mom told me she wishes I had a daughter like me.

Then I’d learn how hard it was to raise me.

I knew she meant that as a joke, but somehow it came true. I am a mom of three, and my daughter is now 15. Honestly, she is as stubborn as I was at that age, and twice as sneaky. Even when she is grounded, she still finds a way to get into trouble. Last week, she got in trouble in school. She and her friend skipped classes to go. I don’t know where. Their teacher found out, and I got a call from the principal. I had to drive from work to pick her up, and she knew she was grounded. When we got home, I had strict instructions for her then I went back to work. In the evening, we were having dinner and she kept complaining that the house was too cold. I wasn’t sure what she was saying since the furnace was on. The thermostat was also set at a good temperature and no one else felt cold. I told my daughter to stop fussing and finish her good. At night, I heard a sound, and knew it was her getting into the storage in the hallway to get a space heater. We keep three space heaters in that closet for emergencies. One time we had an issue with the furnace and it got so cold in the house. So, I placed an order for those space heaters. Now, my daughter was sneaking one into her room and she thought she was being sneaky.
