I go to my grandparent’s house often and their house is pretty old.

They really never tried to upgrade anything.

Well, they have upgraded the roof of the house once but it could use it again. My grandfather is always outside working on the farm and my grandmother is inside baking and cooking. The house, you can tell, is falling apart but at their age, they just don’t care as much anymore. I recall Grandpa saying that he doesn’t plan on giving the house away after death and this house will end with him and Grandma. In a way, I respect that, but in another way, I find that absolutely nuts! Like, wouldn’t he want his house to go to family and see it go to good use? I do think about them growing up in that house and all the difficulties they had with sleep and trying to stay cool. They never had air conditioning. They also really never upgraded the HVAC system. In order to stay cool in the house, they would open the windows and pray there was a breeze. That is no life for me and I need my cool air conditioning to keep me calm. I get pretty upset if I can’t sleep well. I guess it’s possible, tons of people have gone their whole life without air conditioning but is that ideal? At one point, you really didn’t have an option but we do now so why live without it? I’m sure if my grandparents grew up in this day and age they would have air conditioning.
