The heat pump was headed to be recycled

It was sort of weird to see the old heat pump in a heap laying in the back of the heating and air conditioning company truck! It was almost tragic in a way, then this amazing piece of heating and air conditioning technology was now just parts and headed to be recycled.

This was the same heat pump that provided quality heating and air for the better part of 25 years.

That spanned the raising of our children and the many shifts in our lives, but to see that heat pump just tossed in that truck like so much trash sort of broke my heart, but how silly is that reaction? Of course, the heat pump is a component that is chock full of great heating and air conditioning technology, the heat pump does not have a heart or a brain. The heat pump cannot assume pain or understand its usefulness, and yet of course, I tend to humanize even something like a heat pump. I don’t know why I’m like that but it’s been that way our entire life, but when I finally got our first large bike with 10 speeds, my dad wanted to throw away my old bike. I told him I’d rather him give away my current speed because that old bike was my friend. So I guess it should not have particularly shocked me that it was difficult to say goodbye to my old buddy the heat pump. But the more I thought about it, I realized that getting a current heat pump was just yet another indication that time is slipping away. It was the first appliance that I ever bought and thanks to lots of heating and air conditioning service, it sure served us well, but I’m eager to appreciate the new heat pump and all the current heating and air conditioning technology that goes with it as well.
