I’m just so thankful that both of us didn’t panic.

But I have to say, I was right on the brink of just bailing on the apartment & selling it.

When my wife & I bought this house, it came with the reality that it was at the undoubtedly limit of our budget, but and that’s sort of being kind as the mortgage was just above the limit that both of us had agreed upon. On top of that, all of our savings were wrapped up in the down payment & renovations. Both of us had to upgrade the heating & cooling unit right away. And there were some other things that also had to be addressed… Yet, both of us loved our house. And with the new residential HVAC, both of us were also enjoying the best quality heating & air both of us had ever experienced. So it came as a bit of jolt when both of us both had to take pay cuts when the pandemic hit. This put us in a certainally strenuous financial pinch. It got so terrible that I was ready to just unload the house. Thankfully, my wife is much more cool headed & thinks things out. She advocated that instead of selling, both of us turn the basement into an apartment. All it took was having the HVAC professionals to come out to install a ductless heat pump down there. The basement was finished & had a powder room & its own entrance. So all both of us had to do was paint, decorate & put some furniture in there. The HVAC supplier worked on the quality heating & air. Now, both of us have a fantastic tenant who fits in perfectly. But even better, we’re covering nearly 76 percent of our mortgage payment.
