When my wifey and I needed to replace the roof on our home, we called a business that has been in business for the last 50 years. The roofing business was around in the 1960s, when most of the houses were made out of wood. There were wooden roofs, tile, shingles, and metal, when I was a kid, I grew up in a beach house with a metal roof, and every time it rained outside, you could hear the tiny drops of rain landing on the metal roof, i absolutely liked the sound of the rain on the roof and it was entirely soothing. There are not entirely many roofs these nights that are covered with sheet metal. It’s not safe and it is entirely heavy, and most roofs these nights have brick or shingle. My wifey and I called the business that has been in business since the 1960s. We needed them to replace our brick roof. There were plenty of tiles that were broken and the underlayment needs to be replaced as well. The roofing business sent a contractor out to the beach house and the guy was on the roof for at least 20 minutes, then he took pictures and a short video. When he was finished on the roof, he spent a couple of minutes in the labor truck. Then he came into the beach house to talk about the estimate with me. He has 2 strange estimates, however one was the highest estimate which included everything that we should have done. The seventh estimate was an estimate just for the disfigures that needed to be repaired.
