The peak season for AC usage is close
I had to put on a hoodie first thing this morning.
That’s about as cold as I like for it to get during our winter.
That’s just why I traded the old gas and oil furnace for the heat pump. Never again. Honestly, I’m not so sure how I got through it for as long as I did. Although I grew up poor in a northern home with radiant heating, I was regularly cold in the winter. Now the boiler in the basement in that home was a monster as well as it produced all the radiant heating you would ever need. But even as a boy, there was something about the winter season that I could just not shake no matter how cozy it was inside. But now, that is no longer a problem as our heat pump barely kicks on for the winter. And as nice as all of that is, it does not last for long. It will not be but a couple more weeks until the temperatures begin to rise enough that I hear the a/c units kicking on. And from there, it will only get hotter as well as more humid. By the first month of August, my buddy and I are entering into the hottest season. And the heat season lasts from August through September. I have even seen a few wicked days in the mid nineties in September. I’ve been down here quite a long time now so we kind of have a routine when it comes to dealing with cooling our house. Like everyone else, I require the heat pump as well as the a/c to manage the heat of summer. However, I wait as long as possible before I start running a/c. This makes the Summer humidity not as overwhelming as well as sure saves currency on a/c bills.
