There is just something inside of me that wants to fix everything.

I don’t know exactly why this is but it sure does seem prevalent in my life.

I just really am into tinkering with stuff and being a bit of a handyman. I just love to get into the depths of machinery and learn all the different ways things work. This is not what I do for a job though. I actually work in the commercial HVAC of an office crunching numbers. My job is satisfying to a degree and I’m thankful for the life it provides me. But it certainly isn’t a passion. My passion squarely lies with tinkering with machines and understanding their inner workings. I think there is a special connection to the trial and error process for working on machines. And that’s deeply satisfying for me. But those mistakes can also be real costly and I learned that with a recent HVAC repair. When I’m able, I hang out with the HVAC technician as he does the maintenance on all our heating and cooling unit. Our HVAC technician is awesome and he’s happy to let me watch, learn and understand. But unfortunately, I think learning from the HVAC technician left me with a false sense of bravado. When the furnace went down not too long ago, I decided that I would give it a look. That was a really stupid mistake as I was I was immediately in over my head. Yet, I persisted and it got much worse. I attempted to replace a part and it ended up making the furnace completely overheat. So I turned a routine HVAC repair into a situation where I voided the warranty. Don’t be stupid when it comes to your HVAC unit and make sure you call an HVAC professional.
