I just wish I hadn’t had to learn this one the expensive way.

But after making such an egregious error with my HVAC equipment, I really do have so much more appreciation for HVAC professionals.

There’s a reason these people are called HVAC professionals. It’s because it’s hard work getting all the training and expertise to be a licensed HVAC technician. These people spend so much time and energy when it comes to learning their craft. It’s no wonder they’re passionate about heating and cooling. I don’t think I could make that sort of commitment to a profession and not be passionate. Not too long ago, I had the HVAC people out to do the annual HVAC maintenance. This time, the HVAC technician told me that I would need to have a fairly important repair. There were HVAC components that had to be replaced. This wasn’t an uncommon thing to have happened to an HVAC unit after some fifteen years of service. However, with his HVAC repair, I could expect many more years a great residential HVAC. I processed all this and told the HVAC technician that I would call to schedule the repair. That’s before I ended up talking with a buddy of mine and he told me he had a handyman that could do the HVAC repair. Indeed, the handyman was almost half the price of the HVAC company. But he was not a licensed HVAC technician nor did he guarantee the work. Unfortunately I decided to use him and I was extremely disappointed as the HVAC equipment ended up breaking down in the middle of the summer.
