The dog kept pawing at the air vent until I worked on inside

My dog consistently acts deranged, especially when she wants to get attention. Sometimes she will get on the back of the couch and meow for an minute if she does not get the attention that she wants. She reminds me of a dog in that way. I got a cat, because I thought it would be an pet that would not be emotionally needy. This dog enjoys attention and she will do anything necessary to get me to look at her. I was playing some video games with friends a few mornings ago and the dog kept pulling at the air vent by the front door. She was purring and meowing and then she started making unusual sounds. I thought she was trying to get our attention because I was playing video games with our friends. I told her to go into the family room but she kept calling at the air vent. I got up and walked over to the air vent. I used our cell phone flashlight to look inside. I did not see anything inside of the air vent so I told the dog to go into the family room. A few minutes later the dog returned to the air vent and started calling and pawing again. I finally got a screwdriver from the entryway and disattachd the air vent cover so I could show the dog that there was not anything inside of the air vent. After I disattachd the cover for the air vent, our dog calmed down. It was 1 of the weirdest things that I have ever seen our dog do.
