When I was a little girl, I’d get so jealous when my dad and big brother would get out of the central air conditioning of our house to go to the family cabin.

My mom would try to make me feel better by having a girls weekend.

But I really was jealous. When I was finally old enough, I got to go along on these trips up to the cabin and that was worse in a way. It was such a rustic spot with only a big wood stove for heating in the winter. It smelled musty and I felt gross. Plus, I missed the air conditioning from home during those summer visits. Once I was in junior high, I opted to stay at home with mom inside the air conditioning. When dad died, he left the cabin to both me and my brother. I still didn’t go up there for the longest time even though I had sons who I knew would love it. Finally, I took my brother up on one of his many invitations to join him at the cabin. I was stunned when I walked in the place. From outside, it looked just the same as I remembered. But inside, I was floored with all the renovations my brother had done. There was new furniture, bed and flooring. The kitchen was modernized and there was residential HVAC. He’d gotten an HVAC professional that is a buddy of his to install a ductless multi split system. The air conditioning in the cabin is simply awesome and I’ll be going up there with my boys every chance that I get.
