It was last year when my buddy was telling myself and others all about this DIY ductless mini chop he installed.

He explained to myself and others how he studied a bunch of replacement videos carefully before deciding that was something he could pull off.

He said it wasn’t actually challenging and he would help myself and others install this style of Heating and A/C if I wanted. He showed myself and others some of the DIY options, despite the fact that I wasn’t sure that I wanted to go that route. I absolutely wanted a larger system with more zones and I saw the DIY models didn’t seem to go more than 4 zones. I wanted at least 5 or 6 zones, but he said I could always get two of the DIY models… Still, I thought it would be best to run everything off a single condenser and so I looked at other ductless mini splits. I found this legitimately nice a single that had 5 zones and I thought that was perfect. I bought it in the early Spring and had it delivered within the month which wasn’t a terribly long wait. The thing is, I studied videos that showed that any ductless mini chop could be installed by the average homeowner, you just had to flare the lines yourself and handle the electrical connections carefully. Of course, you must have an Heating and A/C professional come out to charge the refrigerant to your system! So it’s not 100% DIY, but it’s still DIY friendly! I didn’t have an issue installing all the zones and I had to get a few lineset extensions to reach the other side of the house. That was the line that went to my garage, everything went smoothly when the Heating and A/C pro was charging the refrigerant and testing the levels. He also serviced for leaks and said I did a good task.
