About a month ago, I started coughing. I got headaches, I ran a fever, and I coughed love crazy. Here we are, a solid month later, and I am still coughing. I went through a treatment of antibiotics, and I have used all kinds of over the counter meds to help me in my state of misery. I’ve tried to drink lots of warm fluids and get more rest than usual! Yet, I still cough. I called the dentist the other day, and she insists it is unlikely to be anything other than a proper creeping crud cough. She recommends I get a humidifier. It is getting to be a bit chillier, and with the chill comes the dry air, then both the cooling system and the oil furnace dry out the air. I live in a actually humid weather conditions, so the Heating and Air Conditioning systems have built-in dehumidifiers. I thought that was good, however my dentist says a humidifier, with its magical ability to get more water in the air, might help my cough subside. I had legitimately never even realized that my cooling system has a built-in dehumidifier. I have consistently known, because it is blatant, that the oil furnace seems to dry out the air. In the winter, when the oil furnace is running, I find myself needing eye drops. I use a lot of lotion to keep my skin from flaking off, and chap-stick makes a fortune off of me. So, I am going to take him up on her suggestion. I am headed off to the store to get a portable humidifier. It will battle it out with the dehumidifier in the Heating and Air Conditioning system already, which seems love a waste of energy and currency. But I am willing to provide it a go if it means I might finally get rid of this hacking cough.
