Yoga was my favorite way to escape.
Yoga was my favorite way to escape.
It took me a wild to get used to the moves they were making, but once I did, I started having fun.
Whenever I feel stressed, I turned to yoga to free my mind. If I am having a hard day, or just don’t feel good, yoga will usually perk me up and help my inner being to realign. I don’t think there are enough people who can understand how important yoga can be for the mind, body, and soul. Yoga isn’t just a stretching exercise, but it is a way to free the everyday pressures of life and to allow your entire body to be one with the universe. You learn to breathe, and with breathing, you bring in healing oxygen, and you allow yourself to rejuvenate. When I was much younger, I was very heavy. I needed to find a way that would allow me to lose weight and feel good about who I was. A friend of mine, whose mom was the owner of a yoga studio, asked me to join her at the studio one afternoon. Her mom was doing a beginner’s yoga class. She gave me a leotard and a yoga mat and told me to come join her class. It took me a wild to get used to the moves they were making, but once I did, I started having fun. I became a regular in the yoga classes, and at my friend’s house. Three months later, I was already down 25 pounds and three sizes. I not only felt better in my skin, but people were noticing how much happier I was. Since then, yoga has become my favorite way to escape troubles, and to remember who I am and what I’m worth to myself and others.
