I can never go home again.

I can never go home again.

I was on my way home from work last week, when I saw a flurry of activity on my street.

I knew something was going on because there were emergency vehicles all over the place.

I tried to find something on the radio to give me an idea of what was happening, but I found nothing. I was a block away from my house when I saw the flames in the air. I parked my car as closely as i could get to my home and got out. I noticed the flames were coming from my neighbor’s house. At first I felt grateful it wasn’t my home, but I was friends with my neighbors and felt bad for them. It shocked me to see that the flames from the neighbor’s house were licking at the outer wall of my kitchen. Even though the fire company was spraying down my house, they couldn’t stop the fire that was threatening my home. I saw my neighbor and emitted a sigh of relief, knowing they were okay, then ran up and hugged them. They were apologizing for the damage being done to my home, but I was not upset. I told her I needed a new air conditioning unit anyway, but this wasn’t quite the way I wanted to get it. She looked over at the air conditioning unit and laughed. She agreed I could never use that AC unit again and asked if I had homeowner’s insurance. I assured all would be well, and I was grateful she and her husband were okay.
