HVAC and teaching certification is similar

I went to school to be a teacher and my brother went for heating and cooling technology.

Surprisingly, we went through a lot of similar things in life.

I had to do college for four years while my brother did a trade school. In our final year of school we both did a kind of internship. I had to student teach at two different schools. I shadowed an actual teacher and then eventually taught lesson plans. I did not get paid and I had to clock in a certain amount of teaching hours. My brother had to do an apprenticeship with an actual HVAC professional. For a year he went to the job sites with the guy and did all the HVAC repairs. He started out just cleaning up after the job was done. By the end my brother did HVAC installs, ductwork cleaning and heat pump maintenance. The only difference is that my brother did get a small amount of money for doing this. After he logged in his in field hours, my brother had to take certification tests, the same as me. We both took multiple tests checking our knowledge in our respective fields. My brother did NATE certification while I took teaching exams. After we both passed next came applying to our actual field. We both are in the bottom rung of the company. I am a low paid middle school aid while my brother is the rookie in the HVAC industry. The two of us are hoping to work our way up to the dream job.
