Now, I understand that there was a time when people didn’t have air conditioners.

Air conditioners weren’t invented until the early 1900s, which meant that nearly all generations before then had no air conditioning of any type.

I don’t think I would have enjoyed living before the air conditioner was invented, but there seem to be a lot of people who did enjoy it. However, the most confusing part of the whole ordeal to me is that people used to wear heavy clothing before the air conditioners were invented. I am pretty sure that I could manage to survive a few days without an air conditioner, but I am sure that I would start wearing shorts and a thin shirt in order to manage the heat. However, when you read old books and look at old pictures, you will quickly discover that they wore heavy layers of clothing even without the air conditioner. Now, I am aware that they used to build houses with cooling in mind, and the way that they built their houses helped them not to need an air conditioner. However, these cooling methods wouldn’t have helped in the middle of the field in the heat of the day. Some tend to think that society forced people to dress modestly, but the people in the pictures were happy. It is my opinion that if you have never used an air conditioner, then you can learn to enjoy the heat without them. I think that air conditioners make people more miserable because they don’t know how to handle the heat without them.
