Signing up for a group fitness class with friends

My friends and I were constantly whining about wanting to lose weight and get in better shape. The four of us finally decided to sign up for a group fitness class at the local gym. We chose a class called Boot Camp just because it happened to accommodate all of our schedules. It worked out that we could drive straight to the gym after work on Friday. We figured it would be a great way to start our weekend. We’d have Saturday and Sunday to recover if we were overly sore. At the first class, my three friends wanted to stand at the very back of the room. I would have preferred to be positioned toward the front, where we could better see and hear the instructor. I quickly realized that my friends weren’t taking the class seriously. They spent a lot of time chatting and resting. I really wanted to make improvements to my fitness level. Boot Camp was extremely strenuous and challenging. Because I pushed myself and completed every exercise, I was drenched in sweat and exhausted by the end of the session. My friends didn’t even need to shower. They wanted to go out afterward for dinner and drinks. Not only was I exhausted, but I didn’t want to consume a bunch of empty calories. By the end of eight weeks of sessions, I had lost some weight, toned my muscles and gained stamina. I had a ways to go to reach my goals but felt good about my progress. My friends actually gained a couple of pounds. I immediately signed up for several more group fitness classes. I was eager to try spin and pilates classes.
