My dad didn’t know what to get my mom for her birthday this year and so he asked me what I thought he should do.

He is always asking me for advice about stuff like that because he says that he just doesn’t ever have good ideas about things like that.

I would have to admit that that is probably true. My dad is a great guy but buying the perfect gift has never been one of his strong points. Anyway, when he asked me, I had just the right idea for him. My mom has been complaining for a long time now about the thermostat system At their house. This thermostat is one of those old school dial kinds that they used to put in houses in the 1970s. In other words, they have had that thermostat as long as they have been married. That is really a long time. My mom says that she is sick and tired of this thermostat and she wants a brand new smart thermostat system for the house. I told my dad about it and he was thrilled with the idea. He immediately called up their local heating and cooling business and purchased a smart thermostat system right over the phone. I guess he made an appointment for them to come and install it next week for her birthday. He’s planning on having it done while she is out getting her nails done, and surprising her with it whenever she gets home. I think she’s going to love it, and my dad is very excited about it.
