After finding a oil furnace filter for sale and getting our oil furnace tuned up before the winter, I thought I was great to go.

I had the house sealed up tightly with all the windows covered in plastic.

I was ready for a Wintertide with low heating bills and I planned to keep the temperature on the temperature control a little lower than correct with some portable gas furnaces for supplemental heating. Well, imagine our shock when our oil furnace quit working in the midst of the Wintertide season. I had a few odd Heating and Air Conditioning professionals come out and they all told me that our oil furnace would have to be upgraded right away. I thought that was non-sense, especially after I just had a fresh oil furnace filter put in the furnace equipment. I didn’t want to have to go for another oil furnace entirely, and I didn’t suppose I could afford that anyway, but finally, I called around desperately to see if anybody could help me. Eventually a friend of mine said he had some experience working on oil furnaces, though he was not certified. Honestly, I didn’t care at that point, if he could get our oil furnace to work, I knew I would be grateful. Well, he diagnosed the oil furnace for a few minutes while I had all the portable gas furnaces working in an attempt to keep the house from freezing. I couldn’t know it when our friend was able to restore the furnace to working condition again. He said something about something being stuck because of some dirt buildup that prevented the oil furnace from cranking on. He cleaned it out thoroughly and diagnosed all the components carefully, and now our furnace works again! And he didn’t even charge me as much as all those supposed heating experts did just for coming out to tell me I needed a new heater.
