The day we arrived, we were heated.

• We had booked this cottage several months ago, and jumped through every hoop they put in front of us.

We like knowing everything down to the last detail, it’s just our personality type. Our husbands never have to organize anything, we always handle it. The issues start when our plans go off track. We can’t just roll with the punches and let things be. The cottage was absolutely nicer than we expected it to be, with the notable exception of the central HVAC system not working. The night we agreed it was pretty cool, so we weren’t to talk about the A/C concern until the next morning. We were up before our husbands, and they heard us on the phone complaining about the HVAC and saying we deserved a discount or a full refund. They just padded around the house opening up all the windows for a nice cross breeze, which went a long way in cooling the place off. We were so tied up being miserable we didn’t realize that it was pretty comfortable there, even without the HVAC system. Maybe it was a little warm, sure, however not enough to let it make us miserable and ruin our weekend. We came to relax, party, get drunk, fool around with our husband, and have a wonderful time, so no faulty HVAC system was going to get in our way. Eventually we came to see it their way, and chose to wait and be mad about the air conditioning later.
