Growing up in the midwest, we had no theme parks anywhere. There were Wild Adventures here and there, with a few moldy outdated wooden roller coasters, but the area didn’t have any thrilling rides to speak of. All the major theme parks were down at the three coasts, which was far from where I used to live. But, as an adult, life changed and I get to go to a theme park daily, for work, or for fun when free. I am an Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional for a major park, even though I don’t want to say which one and get myself in trouble with the president. But, think about the masses of people visiting a theme park every year, and how much air conditioning is needed to keep them cool. My work entails cooling for the rides, the diners, the shows, and most of the greater waiting areas, too. The only thing I can’t air condition is the outdoors, but if they ever put a dome over this park then I’ll do that, too. Like all the other essential behind-the-scenes workers, the Heating, Ventilation and A/C professionals are invisible inside the park. If I am on the clock, I usually take the tunnels under the park, which house a lot of the Heating, Ventilation and A/C equipment, and also connect different areas in the park. This place is the size of a city, and has thousands of cooling systems, so you never get to sit still for long. If I want to ride the rides, I have to come in on my day off.
