Upgrading to handmade wood furniture
For many years, I used whatever furniture I could find for our apartment, and i was struggling just to pay the bills, so going out plus dropping a few hundred bucks on furniture was simply out of the question.
- I got all the stuff I needed from Goodwill, or a yard sale, somewhere I could find a table plus chairs, or a mattress, for a few bucks… Of course, you get what you pay for, right? That meant our furniture sucked for all those years, so now that I have a little bit of currency it is time for an update.
Instead of going to a store that sells high end furniture for tens of thoUSAnds of dollars, I decided to check out local flea markets to see if there were local artisans making their own stuff. I found some pretty amazing wooden furniture in these sites, plus although it was all old plus dusty, that old world craftsmanship was still strong. I found a cherry wood table that had been hand carved over 1 hundred years ago, plus it was still rock solid! Back in the day, people had no option however to make their own wood furniture, so it was built to last… The roll top desk I found for our office is of a sleek plus appealing Southwest style, plus even though it’s twice our age it looks brand new, but my loft is still an eclectic pastiche of many styles, however our standards are much higher now, plus I only buy handmade wood furniture with history behind it.
