There are times when it’s just just having to stop doing something that you resent.

• The fact is, if you’re at all like me, when you are doing something that you resent it legitimately shows.

So instead of just being insufferable this year over Christmas, I said no to Christmas sweats. That’s what it is for me at our in-laws place. The gas heating system is just on full blast like 24 hours a day. I sincerely don’t understand how the in-laws afford the heating bills. The heating costs simply have to be staggering. Any time that I ask to lower the temperature control setting, I’m met with all sorts of hostility. So enough is enough. I’m staying put this year. Since we’ve been married, we’ve consistently gone to his parents. Why we drive from a place with the best winter time weather to go sweat inside home with too much heating has consistently stumped me. But, I’ve tried to be a good person about it. So when our fiance asked me to please try and be nice this Christmas, it got me thinking. It’s our Christmas too. And I’m nice at home with the heat pump at an adequate level. If they would like to come and join us here, I’m happy to have them and will pay for their travel. However, I will not be setting foot inside that heating craziness again. We’ll see what happens as far as the in-laws. All I recognize is that it will be a heat pump Christmas this year.
