I Set My Thermostat Too High In Hopes to Heat Faster

When I became a first time homeowner, I was easily dumb and naive regaurding my Heating plus A/C system; Before owning a house, I lived with my parents and then went off to school where I lived in a dorm or student housing, and i never had to guess about the Heating plus A/C idea other than what I wanted to set my temperature control to.

I was responsible for paying the bi-weekly utility bill while I was living in student housing, although I wasn’t responsible for taking care of the Heating plus A/C tune ups or replacing the air filter.

I knew that I’d have to take care of my Heating plus A/C idea once purchasing a house, although I didn’t think exactly what that entailed until after moving in! One morning, when the temperature dropped overnight, I went to my temperature control and turned the temperature control from 66 degrees to 69 degrees. In my mind, I thought that if I increased the temperature by 10 degrees then I’d get the gas furnace to work faster to heat up my home. I didn’t plan on leaving the temperature control set at 69 degrees for an extended time. I l gained the strenuous way that I was honestly wrong about my theory, because my gas furnace ended up running longer in order to get my cabin to 69 degrees, not faster, but this did nothing however exhaust my gas furnace and decrease it’s efficiency, but after doing this numerous times within a few weeks, I was appalled by my utility bill and I l gained that I should never increase the temperature on my temperature control so dramatically in hopes that it would heat my cabin faster.
