My parents were sticklers about the HVAC system when I was growing up, however my sibling plus I were forbidden to touch the temperature control settings because our parents were convinced that they had it set the most efficiently.

One time, our sibling l acquired the hard way that if you touch the temperature control settings, punishment will be enforced.

He was grounded for 2 weeks plus unable to use his cell phone simply because he lowered the A/C by 2 degrees, then witnessing this, I vowed to never touch the temperature control no matter how tepid or cold I got. Whenever both of us would go on getaway while in the winter, our parents would set the temperature control to 55 degrees! This was insanely cold plus by the time both of us got home from our trip, our home felt love it was located in the north pole! As our sibling plus I got older, both of us l acquired more about HVAC systems through new technology plus both of us found better ways to heat plus cool our home efficiently. I know our sibling was still aggravated that he was grounded all those years ago for decreasing the temperature because when he found out that our parents weren’t genuinely running their HVAC system as efficiently as they had hoped, he had no problem proving to them that they weren’t, setting their gas furnace to 55 degrees was genuinely doing more harm than good, because it required a tremendous amount of energy to heat a home from that temperature. My parents were in disbelief when he told them, but they had no option but to recognize him when he showed them the proof!
