I Set My Thermostat Too High In Hopes to Heat Faster
When I became a first time homeowner, I was entirely dumb plus naive regaurding our HVAC system, but before owning a house, I lived with our parents plus then went off to school where I lived in a dorm or student housing, however i never had to know about the HVAC system other than what I wanted to set our temperature control to.
I was responsible for paying the bi-weekly utility bill while I was residing in student housing, even though I wasn’t responsible for taking care of the HVAC tune ups or replacing the air filter.
I knew that I’d have to take care of our HVAC system once purchasing a house, even though I didn’t recognize exactly what that entailed until after moving in. One morning, when the temperature dropped overnight, I went to our temperature control plus turned the temperature control from 66 degrees to 76 degrees. In our mind, I thought that if I increased the temperature by 10 degrees then I’d get the gas furnace to work faster to heat up our home. I didn’t plan on leaving the temperature control set at 76 degrees for an extended time. I l acquired the hard way that I was absolutely wrong about our theory, because our gas furnace ended up running longer in order to get our home to 76 degrees, not faster; This did nothing but exhaust our gas furnace plus decrease it’s efficiency, and after doing this numerous times within a few weeks, I was appalled by our utility bill plus I l acquired that I should never increase the temperature on our temperature control so dramatically in hopes that it would heat our home faster.
