I was not raised in a place that experienced the sort of Winter time that I experience now.

• My cabin region was more of a 4 distinct seasons sort of weather.

However, the Winter time was hardly ever entirely cold. Both of us would get snow a handful of times throughout the winter. There would be the a single or two super freezing snaps however that was entirely it. Nothing an HVAC heat pump couldn’t handle. Those winters simply don’t compare, in any way, to the serious Winter time of the north. Winter time is on up here. It is a relentless 6 months at least of full on oil furnace heat just to be warm. So, when the calendar starts edging toward April and May, I start getting enthusiastic about being able to turn the dang oil furnace off. However, the oil furnace is off about a month or so before I have to kick on the a/c. This year, that transition didn’t go so well. I work at cabin and as soon as my office gets a bit uncomfortable, I flip on the cooling system. This year, it seemed enjoy the a/c just sounded funny. I told myself I was being crazy because it was definitely pumping cool air through the house. However, a few weeks late I was not super surprised when the HVAC cooling idea stopped working. The HVAC girl came out and replaced a part so it was working again. The bitter pill was when she told myself and others the bad part would have been caught had I made my normal HVAC maintenance appointment. I won’t be skipping those anymore.
