I didn’t think my son would purposely break the thermostat, but this happened.

I thought my father would love the smart thermostat I got him for his birthday, but he left it unopened for a long time. I finally told him that I could install the smart thermostat for him, and this seemed to make him concerned. I realized that he probably didn’t like the idea of installing something that was too advanced for him to understand, but I had to explain to him that the smart thermostat was very easy to use. I installed the thing and showed him exactly what all the different functions did. I showed him how he could use his cell phone to adjust the temperature control settings from anywhere. He just kind of grunted and gave a shrug. Then he went straight back to watching his TV shows. One thing I can say about my father, he’s stuck in his old ways and he doesn’t enjoy talking very much. I’m actually surprised that he didn’t tell me to shove the new thermostat where the sun doesn’t shine, but he didn’t really give me any huge issues. Then the next time I came over to visit with my son there, suddenly the smart thermostat ended up crashing to the floor. My son said he barely touched the thing and it just fell from the wall. I didn’t think my son would purposely break the thermostat, but this happened. I thought my father pulled it out to the point where it would easily fall and break, so he could go back to using his old dial thermostat. Maybe he disliked the thermostat that much. I told him I would get him a new one, and he said he didn’t want a new one. I can’t just force him to use a new smart thermostat, he has to want it.
