When it was time to replace my air filter for the first time, I spent time looking at videos online and reading tutorials about how to do it properly.

I knew that if I neglected to replace the air filter the right way then it could potentially cause my HVAC system to run less efficiently. I didn’t want to break anything either, but the videos I watched make it look simple. I purchased a pack of air filters and found the vent that held the air filters. When I opened the vent, I saw how dirty the old air filter was and I felt confident that I was doing the right thing. The old air filter was covered in a thick layer of dust and there was debri caught in the mesh. After taking the old air filter out, I tried to place the filter inside. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get my air filter to fit. I didn’t know what to do, so I called an HVAC professional and told him what was happening. The HVAC professional told me that everything would be fine, but I’d more than likely bought the wrong air filter size. Since I didn’t know which air filter size to buy, the HVAC professional agreed to come to my house and replace the air filter himself. He brought a bunch of different air filter sizes and was able to identify which one was best right away. When he was done installing the new air filter, he showed me the brand and size on the packaging. I took a picture of the air filter so I could store the information for next time. The HVAC professional was kind enough to give me an extra air filter for my next replacement.
